Brown Water Snake

This Brown Water Snake was hunting along the edge of the boardwalk in the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee NWR near West Palm Beach.  These snakes are often mistaken for the Cottonmouth which usually ends with their being killed.  These snakes are pretty docile although I recommend you just observe them and leave them alone.  This particular NWR is a great place to view wading birds of all types along with gators and bromeliads.
